Punditry StaffDuring a moment of some hope, Speaker Nancy Pelosi told CNN’s host Dana Bash that The For the People Act (#S1) remains a viable option for the Democrats because Senator Joe Manchin shows some flexibility after discussing it with Pelosi. That seems like good news for any American who wants to liberate Congress from the lobbyists and dark money and for those who believe voting is a sacred right not to mess with at the States’ level. In reality, Manchin is playing us and he is, like the GOP, just buying time. America has a choice. Either it votes #S1 into law or deal with Trump and his cult all over again in the future.
Something that Senators Manchin and Sinema don’t seem to grasp.
Joe Manchin is playing us all for fools. The only thing that really matters to him is dark money and corporate sponsorships.
TEN SENATORS AND NOT EIGHT
Then Senator Manchin shows up for a big news conference surrounded by eight GOP Senators claiming that if parts of the bill were redacted, the GOP will join the Democrats. On her MSNBC show, Rachel Maddow caught the deception by saying that eight GOP Senators is not enough to beat the filibuster. Why then did Joe Manchin bother to engage in hopeless theatrics? Because he is trying to put an emphasis on bipartisanship when it’s the matter that he did not care about in past legislations when he voted withe the Dems without the a single GOP vote.
Joe Manchin is playing us all for fools. The only thing that really matters to him is dark money and corporate sponsorships. The man has sold his conscious and soul to the highest bidder. And damn the voting rights of everyday Americans.

It gravitates all of our marginal understandings and peripheral visions into a the singularity of how this country has gone astray.

AMERICA HAS A CHOICE
Our democracy is weak. We call it a democracy because we still don;t have a name for a democracy few oligarchs control fully. So, the American people accept it because we get to vote.
But when the relationship between the likes of Manchin and the Koch Brothers appear on the radar, we must indulge ourselves a bit by calling the spade a spade. We are, in reality, a fake democracy. One that gives us the impression the people are in control when in fact they are not.
The For The People Act would have corrected many of the fault lines in our democracy, but those who truly are masters of our politics are having none of that.
