Just because one can send encrypted messages on a Blackberry, UAE and Saudi Arabia have both banned its use as of October 11 (For UAE).
Now Research in Motion is a Canadian company. It abides by a set of communications rules that can protect UAE and Saudi Arabia from its staunchest enemies such as Iran and Syria. A Blackberry is not the weapon of choice for the IRGC, it’s a business phone encrypted to protect business practices and sensitive data aimed at their business competitors.
Does that mean Saudi Arabia and UAE do not want western users to have the privacy entitled to when doing business in their countries? Or is there a more sinister purpose behind this decision?
