Are US Global Interests at Risk for Not Defending Ukraine

As a result of our timid and diffident approach to defending the Ukraine properly from a Russian invasion, are US global interests at risk? It is obvious they rose considerably over the last week. One should expect China to bounce somewhere as well as any bad actor wishing America harm to collectively and possibly, in concert, also take advantage of our retreat in the face of Russia to mount their own aggression against neighboring countries. Or, as in the case of Iran, directly against American interests overseas.

It is almost a certainty that the United States might face more problems from other countries who see an opportunity to weaken further our resolve. Our enemies cannot wait to try and damage our geopolitical interests.

Especially those countries the United States already slapped them with sanctions. None has anything to lose to attack U.S. interests when they witness our response to Russia invading the Ukraine.

After Ukraine, our national security apparatus has to expect anything and everything.

WILL CHINA TEST US AGAINST TAIWAN?

One has to consider this option in light of the US/Western world order experiencing a blow to its prestige and stability because of the Ukraine invasion. Will China also test our resolve by threatening an invasion of Taiwan? Taiwan is not Europe. You better believe President Xi is weighing these options in light of the timid global response to Putin’s aggression. as well as the toothless sanctions levied by the western powers against Russia.

But China will wait it out, I believe. Let the dust settle. If Western powers decide their interests are too intertwined with the Russian economy and might ease up later on the sanctions, then it might signal to China that the West is on a decline. Today, the last thing China wants is to give Donald Trump an excuse to come back to power even though the Chinese Government considers him an inconsequential buffoon.

Will Iran occupy more Arab countries? Or, will it threaten Israel directly to test this U.S. administration? Will the Mullahs in Tehran attack US soldiers still stationed in Iraq and Syria? Or, maybe carry out a terrorist attack on US interests in the Gulf the way Hezbollah carried out its terrorist attack on al-Khobar Towers in 1996?

After Ukraine, our national security apparatus has to expect anything and everything. The United States did not send heavy weapons to Ukraine to help defend the country, and our enemies view it as a weakness. The risk/benefits analysis just tipped in favor of risk worth the benefits by our enemies.

Short of that, we are letting Putin dictate our own foreign policy instead of our own President.

WHAT CAN BIDEN DO TO MITIGATE THESE RISKS?

In order not to put US global interests at risk, it is quintessentially imperative for our President to dispatch our naval powers into the waters of the Middle East and Asia. In fact, any hot spot, which might encourage our enemies to act. It is of utmost importance to flex our muscles to show the world that Ukraine is a one off. That Ukraine is not the beginning. Sinister actors are watching our reactions, and we must meet that challenge by demonstrating our abilities and our military might.

Short of that, we are letting Putin dictate our own foreign policy instead of our own President. My hope is that the NSC staff at the White House is fully cognizant of the risks of inaction. Let our enemies see us and hear us. Loud and clear.

Furthermore, we must not abandon Ukraine. The President must find the courage to do more because it is quite obvious that his diplomatic initiatives have failed. The moment the CIA predicted Putin WILL invade his peaceful neighbor to the west, Biden should have stepped up military aid to Ukraine. Big time and by the planeloads.

I cannot help but remember how the President’s negotiations with Senator Joe Manchin wasted five months of his presidency for naught. Five months Biden could have used to lead instead of negotiating with a corrupt Senator who was taking him on a stinky ride. Just imagine if those five months could have helped us with a better exit from Afghanistan. Or maybe better preparations to defend our allies. Instead, Biden wasted them on Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin.

Two imbeciles calling themselves Democrats. And a President whose multi-tasking abilities is congruent with his advanced age.
