Can Trump Defeat Biden in 2024?

It’s the question on everyone’s mind should Donald Trump win the GOP nomination and face off against Joe Biden again. Can Trump defeat Biden in 2024? Does he have a better chance in 2024 than he had in 2020? If one considers the economic outlook and the inflationary pressures, the impact of COVID, the legal troubles of Donald Trump, and the advanced age of President Joe Biden, the nuance of the question is more complex and more circuitous than it sounds on the surface.

The playing field is uneven with all the problems facing the country and the candidates themselves, but is that enough for Trump to not only win the nomination, but also to rise from the grave of a has-been character?

Pause and reflection, for many, over the next 18 months. One that we believe will re-elect Joe Biden for four more years.

WHAT’S AT STAKES

For the American voter to answer this question, they must also answer a few greater questions and the scenarios they will generate. Will democracy survive again under a second-term Trump? How will a Trump presidency look like, considering Trump’s vindictive nature? Can I with all consciousness vote for Trump after January 6 and his legal problems? Will Biden be able to withstand the rigors of the job against his advancing age? If Biden cannot complete his term, what will Kamala Harris presidency look like? Can we trust a peaceful transition with all the white supremacists brandishing their swords?

There are millions, on both sides, who will not ponder these important questions. They will vote for either party out of loyalty for their favorite candidate. However, a big slice of the population will consider the challenges both presidencies might represent before they cast their votes. Especially, the independents.

Because of the convoluted nature of asking whether Trump can defeat Biden in 2024, and the variant other questions it may generate, we must not trust polls to illuminate our path forward. By the time a pollster makes a prediction based on the voters’ responses, some of these voters might find it was premature for them to answer who their choice for president might be. They might find out that they did not think thoroughly about the outcome of whom they want to occupy the White House next.

Pause and reflection, for many, over the next 18 months. One that we believe will re-elect Joe Biden for four more years.

Shall we worry about Joe Biden’s age, then? Not really. We hope the President wins the election in 2024, and serve his country honorably for four more years.

SIFT THROUGH THE NOISE

For us, here at Punditry, we already know that President Joe Biden is our choice. We appreciate enough Vice-President Kamala Harris to ignore the President’s age, which is something you will not hear anyone say it out loud. Not your neighbor, not your colleagues at work, and not the media. The insinuation is that Mr. Biden might not be able to finish his term due to any number of reasons, and that is pure poison to the President’s campaign.

The truth is that Kamala Harris’ presidency is the continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency. There will be a few minor adjustments and changes in personnel, but by a long shot, the U.S. Government institutions will continue to function as Joe Biden intended them to function. His policies are VP Harris’ policies. Full stop.

Shall we worry about Joe Biden’s age, then? Not really. We hope the President wins the election in 2024, and serve his country honorably for four more years. Kamala Harris can more than fill his shoes.

Can Trump defeat Biden in 2024? We don’t think so.
