When a candidate for president makes the public claim that the war in Ukraine is a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia, and it does not impact the U.S. national security interests, it was bound to happen that someone would have to dispute Ron DeSantis false claim. Demonstrating the naïveté of Ron DeSantis was left to President Zelensky to showcase in an embarrassing fashion the DeSantis foreign policy flaws. And Zelensky did just that. In a diplomatic and respectful tone.

After pronouncing this foolish statement, it was apparent to the Washington establishment just how little Ron DeSantis is aware of America’s place on the world stage. Having spent most of his time shipping migrants to blue states against their will, and banning books in libraries, the little man is totally clueless about the big picture.

The Ukraine war might as well be the red spot on planet Jupiter.

Maybe DeSantis should start by reading about the history of Peter the Great.

ZELENSKY RESPONDS TO DESANTIS

Anne Applebaum wrote for The Atlantic an article in which she detailed how President Zelensky responded to Ron DeSantis. It happened as the Board of Directors of The Atlantic met with the President of Ukraine for a tête-à-tête interview on many subject matters.

When asked about DeSantis Ukraine moment, Zelensky said:

If we will not have enough weapons, that means we will be weak. If we will be weak, they will occupy us. If they occupy us, they will be on the borders of Moldova and they will occupy Moldova. When they have occupied Moldova, they will [travel through] Belarus and they will occupy Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. That’s three Baltic countries which are members of NATO. They will occupy them. Of course [the Balts] are brave people, and they will fight. But they are small. And they don’t have nuclear weapons. So they will be attacked by Russians because that is the policy of Russia, to take back all the countries which have been previously part of the Soviet Union. When they will occupy NATO countries, and also be on the borders of Poland and maybe fight with Poland, the question is: Will you send all your soldiers with weapons, all your pilots, all your ships? Will you send tanks and armored vehicles with your young people? Will you do it? Because if you will not do it, you will have no NATO.Anne Applebaum - March 20, 2023

Boom, the big picture. Checkmate Governor.

Defending Ukraine is about halting the barbarian invasions. First and foremost.

DEMONSTRATING THE Naïveté OF RON DESANTIS

Of course, DeSantis will question this logic because he is unaware of all the speeches Vladimir Putin has made in support of Zelensky’s predictions. Maybe DeSantis should start by reading about the history of Peter the Great; or the Terrible, a title that is more representative of his conquest of other peoples and the breaching of their natural borders.

Zelensky, the President of a country with limited resources and powers, is more knowledgeable about world affairs than the GOP front-runner for President of the United States. Are we in trouble if Ron DeSantis wins the nomination? You bet, we are. As much trouble if Donald Trump wins it.

Americans cannot go to sleep in the hope that the ignorance of some of their leaders should not be a matter of concern to them. They may like DeSantis grieving domestic policies, but it is the foreign policy of the United States, using its economic powers, that maintains it secure. Defending Ukraine is about halting the barbarian invasions. First and foremost.

Anyone who falsely claims otherwise is as ignorant as DeSantis is.

DeSantis is more of a forceful migrant transporter than he is a worldly leader. He is more of a race baiting nincompoop than he is a wise future President.

HAD WE NOT LEARNED OUR LESSONS?

Students of history know that most empires eventually falter because of lack of vision or will. The Romans fell because they could not contain the attacks on the periphery of their empire, and the United States might fall one day if it did not contain Russia and China, as both are expanding their footprints as a prelude to rupturing all US interests abroad.

How do you think the United States stopped communism from ever reaching our shores at the height of that evil ideology after World War II?

What Zelensky said is not only a possibility, but also a strong probability. If we do not defend Ukraine today. But don’t tell that to the Governor of Florida. He has demonstrated his credulity in the face of danger mostly because he is ignorant about the history of the 20th century.

DeSantis is more of a dehumanizing migrant transporter than he is a worldly leader. He is more of a race baiting nincompoop than he is a wise future President.

We deserve better. Oh, and wait until he blasts American Jewry. It’s coming, folks. Probably a slip of a tongue or an open microphone.
