DHS Said Domestic Extremists Are More Dangerous Than ISIS

In a stern bulletin, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that the LGBTQ, Jews, and migrants must watch their back as the rise of Christian nationalism makes the country less safe for these communities. In citing its security bulletin, DHS said domestic extremists are more dangerous than ISIS and al-Qaeda whose threats have declined as compared to the domestic terrorism DHS is witnessing manifest itself online following the insurrection of January 6. DHS called them violent extremists. We call them Christian Nationalists or domestic terrorists.

The reason is becoming clear to all of what impact electing as President a white supremacist bigot has on the country. We shot ourselves in the foot the day we believed that Donald Trump could somehow become a relevant president instead of the divisive force he has become and a leading cause to start this country on the path towards a new civil war he could care less if he started.

How can the agency responsible for our security protect our democracy from the very same people who protected it when their powers reigned supreme but who now are weakening our democratic institutions because they no longer serve their monopolistic interests over the economy?

HAPPY YOU VOTED FOR TRUMP?

Here is how NBC News described the bulletin’s purpose:

Americans motivated by violent ideologies pose a “persistent and lethal threat,” a senior DHS official told reporters in a briefing on the bulletin. Intelligence officials across the federal government have consistently highlighted the growing threat of American extremists in recent years, while explaining that foreign threats such as the Islamic State terrorist group and Al Qaeda are no longer as persistent as they once were.NBC News by Julia Ainsley - November 30, 2022

It is obvious, from this bulletin, that DHS eyes have opened up. While it keeps watch on international terrorism, it is also realizing that domestic terrorists, those in the extremist Christian bubble, represent a far more dangerous element than Muslim extremists traveling thousands of miles undetected to harm this nation.

This is both good news and bad. Unlike how united we are against a foreign enemy, because of Trump, domestic terrorism divides us like no other large and looming national security issue. To the White Supremacist, Christian Nationalists who see their control slip in the polls and in the power structures of this country, this requires defending. Even if that leads to insurrections and violence.

Such is making the task before the DHS thankless. How can the agency responsible for our security protect our democracy from the very same people who protected it when their powers reigned supreme but who now are weakening our democratic institutions because they no longer serve their monopolistic interests over the economy?

After all, he is the coal mine feeding the fire of hate.

AMERICA IS CHANGING FOR BETTER

As the demographic of our nation are changing rapidly, we all must believe it will land us in better places. Instead of getting away with murder, as in the past, now violent police officers are facing jail time for their violence. Instead of forcing people to accept our diversity, a new generation of Americans see diversity as our strength and responsibility.

To some White Supremacists and Christian Nationalists, this is equivalent to a biblical Armageddon. To defuse, confuse, and delay, they embarked on a path of cheating with regard to voting rights and gerrymandering to extend the life shelf of their total control of our economy. These domestic terrorists do not want to share with anyone the fruits of the labor they have subjected to $7.25 an hour. In fact, they consider that every working American works for them, not the country.

This is Trumpism. In a nutshell.

When DHS said domestic extremists are more dangerous than international terrorists today, it is recognizing the danger of this new ideology of total supremacy that could lead to violence because their leaders promote violent language and supremacy over the economy. This is the first step in controlling these domestic terrorists. The fact that one of their own in Stewart Rhodes just got indicted and is going to jail for a long time sends the signal to all that this country will not tolerate dissent through violence.

In the meantime, the rest of the country fights back the less nuanced Trump impact on our institutions to benefit extremism through the law courts.

In this long battle of locking up violent insurrectionists and domestic terrorists, it would help if Donald Trump just dropped dead in the middle of a greasy lunch.

After all, he is the coal mine feeding the fire of hate.
