In a perfect world where Democrats and Republicans face off in 2024, neither Donald Trump nor Ron DeSantis should be the GOP nominee. To move closer to that Utopian position, two Constitutional Originalists are about to publish a law review article at the University of Pennsylvania. Both are claiming that Trump does not qualify to run for office under Amendment 14 of the U.S. Constitution because he mounted an insurrection against the United States of America. At this point, disqualifying Trump is a no-brainer.

If Trump gets into Office again, he will not leave it, except in a coffin. The man is one inch away from breaking our democratic institutions to rule as an authoritarian figure. Do you think his cult followers would mind? They would be the first ones to call for tossing the Constitution aside.

Getting Trump out of the way has become a national security issue of the utmost sensitivity.

WHAT HAPPENS THEN

If A.G. Merrick Garland eventually files a lawsuit to prohibit Donald Trump from running for office, after a jury finds him guilty, for insurrection, it would become then a contest between Joe Biden and possibly Ron DeSantis. If the latter can make as few appearances as possible, he may have a chance to lock down the nomination. We believe the more people meet Ron DeSantis, the less likely they will vote for his robotic and uncharismatic personality.

According to the latest polls, Real Clear Politics averaged Bidden ahead of DeSantis by a margin of 44.5 to 42.7 polls, which is within the margin of error. But given the unpopularity of Joe Biden, the fact he is winning against a newcomer shows just how polarizing are the politics of Ron DeSantis. That 15-week abortion limit is a rope around his neck. Not to speak of the pettiness he showed by fighting everyone to include Floridian Black Republican Representatives.

Ron DeSantis is unable to make any real friends, and he will not win the Presidential nomination without vast margins of support among the GOP’s leadership. Even if Trump stumbles legally, the likelihood DeSantis wins the nomination are almost nil. Can you imagine Trump relentless attacks on DeSantis? Even from his prison cell? Trump would pass the torch to anyone but DeSantis.

Today, it works in Joe Biden’s favor if a jury orders Trump to serve a prison term, and the DOJ rules he is not qualified to run for President. Getting Trump out of the way has become a national security issue of the utmost sensitivity. Here at Punditry, we don’t see the officials with the real powers back down an inch to save this nation from another 4 years of treason and corruption.
