One of the side benefits of firing Tucker Carlson from the Fox network is that other Fox anchors are running scared, knowing they could be next should they overstep, like Tucker, to cause any damage to the brand Rupert Murdoch built over the years. They are all looking over their shoulders now, and for the right reasons.
In addition to running scared, most are probably going back to their old sent messages to try and clean their phones from damning behavior. It was this kind of messages that caught anchors at Fox in a windmill of troubling lies and deceptions, and it is a certainty that many hosts want to sanitize their phones in the aftermath of Carlson’s fallout.
Don’t count on any of them, in the future, to express their real thoughts openly using their phones. Lesson learned.
We believe Shawn Hannity and Jesse Waters are on the chopping block as well.
WHO IS NEXT?
The question is, who else could be next to fall in the Fox empire that we should expect their departure sooner than later? Who else has become real baggage for the Murdochs?
On February 5, 2021, Fox fired Lou Dobbs, another one of its highest-rated hosts, whose slander against Smartmatic caused the company to file a $2.7 billion lawsuit against Fox. Dobbs was fired 24 hours after the filing of the Smartmatic lawsuit. This is hardly a coincidence.
We can all trace back the Tucker Carlson high profile firing to a few more like Bill O’Reilly, Eric Bolling, Ed Henry, Glenn Beck, and of course the ultimate enfant terrible Roger Ailes. Most of these firings centered around sexual misconduct.
Furthermore, we all know that Carlson’s past behavior has alarmed real Fox journalists like Bret Baier and Chris Wallace. The latter leaving Fox for his own CNN show at the end of 2021. Both made it known they were uncomfortable working in the same studios as Tucker Carlson.
By firing Carlson, does that mean that Lachlan Murdoch will tolerate less uncontrollable anchors and hosts than his father did?
HANNITY AND WATTERS
We believe Shawn Hannity and Jesse Watters are on the chopping block as well. Both have a history of harming the Fox brand with controversial threats or lies in support of the insurrection of January 6 or the direct harming of high-profiled liberal Americans.
Hannity, even though he admitted privately that Biden won in 2020, to this day is still peddling the Trump lies on his show, and Waters suggested to his viewers to “ambush” Dr. Anthony Fauci and to “go for the kill shot”.
It won’t be long before Watters’ big mouth lands him in deep trouble.
So, yes. The Fox anchors are running scared for now. Even though, the past Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck firings did little to curb their venomous lies and to temper their questionable behavior. Journalism had died at Fox.
By firing Carlson, does that mean that Lachlan Murdoch will tolerate less uncontrollable anchors and hosts than his father did? It seems like it. It seems there may be a new direction at Fox. We hope so because their viewers deserve more respect.
Furthermore, it would not surprise us if Lachlan has called for a meeting with all the Fox anchors and hosts to let them know there is a new sheriff in town.
