Is Biden Giving Trump a Free Pass for His Insurrection

In an interview with David Muir on World News Tonight, President Biden announced a shocker. In answering the question whether he would run if Trump ran again in 2024, he said “Sure. Why would I not run against Donald Trump for the nominee? That’ll increase the prospect of running.” Is Joe Biden giving Trump a free pass for mounting a coup against the U.S. Government? His answer tells us that maybe there are no plans to hold Trump accountable for his crimes and treachery. If so, good luck winning in 2024, Mr. President. Millions of Democrats and Independents would simply sit out an election pegging a traitor against a hesitant President.

How else to interpret such nonchalant demeanor by the President? Unless he is playing along while the Department of Justice, which has given us no signs it is investigating Trump, makes a move against Donald Trump prior to 2024 to save our republic.

Let us just hope A.G. Merrick Garland is not asleep at the helm.

Biden may truly believe that he can turn Trumpism into a fad. A passing threat he can wrestle by showing his amiable side.

PROS AND CONS OF INDICTING TRUMP

Biden, by his affable nature, may be thinking he can persuade Trump supporters to abandon the Fuhrer if only he can sit with them and have a chat. It’s what makes him the ultimate insider politician. The fact that he could fail may not have crossed Biden’s mind and this, to our own peril, may be playing a role in letting Donald Trump get away with murder.

That’s one explanation why Biden may have said what he said. He truly believes in his power of persuasion to the point of challenging himself publicly for a 2024 showdown. Even if the matter appeared, to millions of anxious Americans, to be an out of control statement that belittles our constitution when we let criminals walk away free.

How else the President might have answered that question? He could have easily said “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. After all, 2024 is three years away and much can happen between now and then”. Instead, he answered it by grandstanding his own age. “Me, old? No, I will run again in 2024. Even against Trump” was the message his brain was pounding inside his head. That his statement might distress voters did not occur to our almost octogenarian President.

The cons of showing strength and resolve against what Donald Trump did on January 6, in Biden’s mind, is the loss of millions of Americans to Trumpism. Biden may truly believe that he can turn Trumpism into a fad. A passing threat he can wrestle by showing his amiable side.

If he is wrong, his legacy may suffer, but more importantly, the country would suffer even more.

Mr. President, stand up and show some spine please. The President who will win in 2024 will be the one to show guts and grit.
