Is Russia Behind the New Violence Against Educators

Russia has and continues to plant divisive misinformation to break the U.S. apart along racial and economic lines. With tens of millions of Americans receptive to any kind of misinformation, it has not been a difficult task for the Kremlin. So, when one hears about the increased parent violence against pro-mask-mandate educators and teachers, one can only ask the question: Is Russia behind the new violence against our educators around the country? Is this part of a more targeted and focused Russian campaign to weaken America from within?

The U.S. State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC) released a report August 2020 it dubbed “Pillars of Russia’s Disinformation and Propaganda Ecosystem” in which it detailed Russian activities against vaccinations and the wearing of masks across the American social landscape.

The Kremlin has established a propaganda ecosystem targeting Americans in which variations from the main theme, even if contradictory, reinforces the singularity of the disinformation itself.

MUDDY THE WATER

The GEC report states:

Russia has operationalized the concept of perpetual adversarial competition in the information environment by encouraging the development of a disinformation and propaganda ecosystem that allows for varied and overlapping approaches that reinforce each other even when individual messages within the system appear contradictory. This ecosystem reflects both the sources of disinformation and propaganda—official government statements, state-funded media outlets, proxy websites, bots, false social media personas, cyber-enabled disinformation operations, etc.— and the different tactics that these channels use.U.S. State Department Global Engagement Center - August 2020

The Kremlin has established a propaganda ecosystem targeting Americans in which variations from the main theme, even if contradictory, reinforces the singularity of the disinformation itself.

A good example of that is when Russia concocts several propaganda messages that pile on top of each other all of which aim at muddying the water to the point where the truth vanishes in thin air.

The concept could apply to a variety of targeted markets.

Russia is breaking the bond parents have with their children’s teachers

FROM THE AMERICAN VOTER TO SCHOOL PARENTS

In 2016 and 2020, Russia targeted the political American voter. Today, it seems, Russia is aiming its propaganda guns against school teachers and educators in order to wreak further divisive havoc against a social sector of our society immune to cultural wars.

If one parent is willing to affront, or assault, a teacher over a mask, that same parent is willing to risk their children’s education just to pass judgment on such a trivial matter. From a cost-benefit point of view, these parents are clueless about the impact of their behavior.

Russia is breaking the bond parents have with their children’s teachers. What’s next? The bond between the public and our veterans? Or maybe the bond between doctors and their patients?

America must centralize some of its potent resources into one anti-Russian entity whose aim is to bury the country in its own mediocrity.

BURY RUSSIA IN ITS OWN MEDIOCRITY

Russia’s population of 130m is made up of almost 90% uneducated peasants and blue collar workers. The country only matters because of vast natural resources and a nuclear arsenal their leaders have threatened the world with since Stalin. Even if the country could develop significantly, it would remain a third-world nation unable to compete on the global stage without cheating (Yes, the Olympics). So, instead of building a nation, the country’s leadership chooses to bring other nations to its level.

Is Russia behind the new violence against our schools? I believe it is. Russia is certainly disseminating disinformation about masks and vaccines, which it is forcing into our classrooms and soon elsewhere.

America must centralize some of its potent resources into one anti-Russian entity whose aim is to bury the country in its own mediocrity. Let us have The Russian Control Department. Its employees are a collection of the best diplomats, intelligence officers, military personnel, scientists, analysts, and hackers to confront Vladimir Putin once and for all.

Barring the clustering of these resources into one focused entity to put Russia and its leaders where they belong, the Kremlin’s war against America will continue until either we capitulate under the weight of their propaganda, or we learn our lesson the hard way, which by then might be too late.

We have no choice but to fight back. Today. Right now.
