Israeli Extremist Settlers Killing Spree

As the world turns its attention towards the tragedy of Benjamin Netanyahu’s war against Gaza, Israeli extremist settlers go on a killing spree in the West Bank. Something the major media refuses, maybe for space and time, to cover because of the Gaza war and our troubles in Congress monopolizing the headlines. Since the Gaza war erupted two weeks ago, the terrorizing settlers killed more than 60 innocent Palestinians and depopulated two of their villages to occupy as part of a long-term goal to annex the West Bank.

Meanwhile, President Biden has never brought up the extremism of the Israeli settlers and their illegal trespasses under international law into focus, which in the first place may have started the war in Gaza. The region is living in a period of Israeli ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, yet the United States remains silent and acquiescing.

It’s the same American Modus Operandi we watched over and over again, where “cause” and “effect” blend into just “effect”. The cause of any political trouble, wars, and disagreements is just swept under the carpet.

It won’t be long before China infiltrates the region solely because the US has made cataclysmic foreign policy mistakes.

NO PEACE IN THE REGION WITH ISRAELI EXTREMISTS

As long as there is extremism on both sides, there will never be any lasting peace in the region between the Palestinians, backed by hundreds of millions of Arabs, and the Israelis. By letting the fanatic settlers roam free, the United States can never possibly become a neutral interlocutor of peace. Finally, and without a doubt, we must rein in extremism on both sides because one dilates the other, otherwise, in a few years, there will be another war with many dire consequences for the Palestinians and Israel; in addition to the United States.

The surprising silence by the White House on the extremism of the Israeli settlers, which is sparking more anger and creating the perfect conditions for more Islamic terror, is worrisome. Either the United States is oblivious to the settlers’ negative impact on any future peace, or it is ignoring their terror against Palestinians in the West Bank because of political considerations.

Either one of those is bad policy, and neither helps advance the cause of peace.

Force Israel to stop its settlements in the West Bank, and for Israel to strike peace on the basis of a two-state solution.

CHINA’S ENTRY JUST MADE EASIER

It is imperative that we address the elephant in the room sooner than later. The more we kick this can down the road, because of political convenience, the costlier that policy becomes for all parties concerned.

China, a rising power, is taking a less favorable view of the Israeli war on Gaza, and one presumes on the settlers terrorizing the Palestinians. This advantage has the support of 400 million Arabs in the Middle East, which renders the US job of continuing to influence the region less than desirable.

The State Department must adjust its foreign policy to counter the Chinese success in galvanizing support for its hegemony among Arabs. It won’t be long before China infiltrates the region solely on the basis of America’s cataclysmic foreign policy missteps.

Force Israel to stop its settlements in the West Bank, and for its government to strike peace on the basis of a two-state solution. Today, the Palestinians would be more than willing after the devastation of Gaza.
