Punditry StaffIn a twist of irony, the very same racist Republican in the Tennessee House of Representative, named Scotty Campbell, who voted to illegally oust two black lawmakers, Justin Pearson and Justin Jones from their legislative positions, has suddenly resigned because, allegedly, he sexually harassed two interns. This goes to show us the way onward to bury back the racists Trump has empowered the last six years. Because most racists have skeletons in their closets, only investigating journalism’s long arm of justice can reach out and nail them.
To diminish the damage racists perpetuate against our society and economy, we must open their closets for the skeletons they buried deep.
ProPublica’s IMPORTANT WORK
Many Americans tired of corrupt politicians have turned to investigative journalists to highlight their corruption. One organization that works tirelessly to expose corruption and inequality has been the ProPublica, which recently exposed Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas loose ethical standards, which we believe is just the tip of the iceberg. ProPublica relies heavily on tips from a public that is unwilling to stay silent in the face of unscrupulous behavior.
But organizations, like ProPublica, relies on individual donations to continue its work. Donations that are often lacking in terms of value or commitments. This is where the rubber meets the road in the society that men of power built to wall them off from scrutiny, and had ProPublica not invested in pursuing for months the truth about Clarence Thomas, we would have never known about his extracurricular and unethical activities.
To diminish the damage racists perpetuate against our society and economy, we must open their closets for the skeletons they buried deep, and that can only happen if we back and fund investigative journalism. We did our part by donating to ProPublica. We hope you do yours.
All we have to do is investigate the boldest of racists to re-bury the more timid ones.
THE CHEATERS ACCUSE THE INNOCENT
How many stories have we read about election fraud in 2020 white Republican voters accused black Democrats of committing, only for us to find out later that it was mostly white male Republicans who actually perpetrated most of these crimes? Those were skeletons that election integrity programs uncovered, and which embarrassed the Republicans who were screaming “wolf” from the top of their lungs.
Often, the racists and the bigoted are the ones to eternalize criminal activities because their dark hearts cannot live with equity for all. Their ancestors stripped the native Indians from their culture and identity, and African-Americans from their liberties and human rights, through a forced mechanism of organized racism, and they all, in carrying the torch during more modern times when the law forbids unlawful behavior, find themselves breaking so many laws to sustain the legacies and the criminal enterprises they live for.
Remember the story of Emmett Till? An illegal and untruthful accusation, which resulted in a heinous crime. Eventually, that skeleton found its way to surface to show us the crimes racists are willing to commit in the service of their bigotry.
So, yes. Most racists have skeletons in their closets, which are waiting to spring to light in order to bury racism and its messenger.
All we have to do is investigate the boldest of racists to re-bury the more timid ones.
