There are many NGO heroes helping Syrians and whose good people have dedicated their precious time to assist in any way they can. Many of their humanitarian people have died while providing aid and comfort to total strangers in a country they knew little about. Many have visited Syria for the first time.
The world owes these heroes much recognition and respect. Here at TFS, we thank their families for their sacrifices. Syrians will never forget those who died trying to save them.
Syria will one day build a Museum, name streets, and write books about these NGO heroes helping Syrians. The world will not forget them.
There are many NGO’s involved in Syria who responded to diminish the impact of the Assad atrocities. In honor of their sacrifices and immensely important work, this page is dedicated to saluting the NGO’s, their leaders, and the thousands who everyday face unbelievable challenges to make a small difference in someone’s lives.
There are no words that we can write here to describe our gratitude and appreciation to all the humanitarian work of the NGO’s listed below.
(The list includes about 25 NGO’s. We will add them as time and resources permit)
Below are the NGO heroes helping Syrians stay alive, stay healthy, keep warm, and keep the world informed about the plight of Syria’s helpless people.
We are funded by members and people like you. We are independent of any political ideology, economic interest or religion. No government is beyond scrutiny. No situation is beyond hope.
Few would have predicted when we started that torturers would become international outlaws. That most countries would abolish the death penalty. And seemingly untouchable dictators would be made to answer for their crimes.
We offer basic healthcare, perform surgery, fight epidemics, rehabilitate and run hospitals and clinics, carry out vaccination campaigns, operate nutrition centers, and provide mental healthcare.
Our activities include the treatment of injuries and disease, maternal care and the provision of humanitarian aid. Where necessary, we set up sanitation systems, supply safe drinking water, and distribute relief to assist survival.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country. It also has a mandate to help stateless people.
