Not One Government Institution We Can Trust
The Last Roman Emperor Romulus Augustus. Not One Government Institution We Can Trust

The United States Government, as a whole, has turned into a play-dough in the hands of the rich and powerful as it struggles across the spectrum of its institutions to remain viably trustworthy. From one scandal to another, there is not one government institution we can trust today to carry out its civic responsibilities to protect the citizens that voted for that government. You name the institution, and we can run down a long laundry list of disgraceful and corrupt behavior.

The politicization and polarization of the government across partisan lines, in pursuit of absolute power, has turned off many voters who keep hoping that their democracy remains viable and unbroken.

And don’t get us started on the Supreme Court of the United States, the last institution one would think would stand above the dark forces bending the will of the American people. Not so, it turned out. Justice Clarence Thomas, and probably others, have contributed to the mistrust and the anger many Americans are experiencing today as they ponder where the country is heading, just as Roman Senators pondered their fate and future during the reign of Romulus Augustus.

After the fiasco of Clarence Thomas, the role of the U.S. Government is becoming crystal clear, which is to enrich the few by collecting taxes from the rest of us.

YOU NAME IT

So, shall we trust Congress often bending to the will of lobbyists instead of their voters? Or, Congress that keeps violating insider trading laws?

Shall we trust the FDA, which bends to the will of the food industry lobby, lacing our food with harmful chemicals, which causes dementia and Alzheimer later in life? Or, the pharma industry, which rushes medication to market at the expense of our health?

Do we trust the law enforcement communities, which is failing millions of Americans as it hires known KKK loyalists? Or, the intelligence community, which cannot avoid infighting that lead to our insecurity and past missed lapses?

Shall we trust politicians to protect our voting rights on the chopping block by dark money, or the state legislators who violate the Constitution in pursuit of monopolistic powers?

What about the SEC? Does this government institution’s very existence is to help big investors steal the money of smaller ones?

What about Republican Governors? Shall we trust them to protect our children at schools from mentally ill people with easy access to high-powered assault weapons? Or, shall we just walk to the land of Moriah and sacrifice our children, just as Abraham sacrificed Isaac?

Tell us, honestly, of one government institution we can trust.

After the fiasco of Clarence Thomas, the role of the U.S. Government is becoming crystal clear, which is to enrich the few by collecting taxes from the rest of us. The powerful and the rich can do anything they damn please, to include breaking any laws they want.

And then the government asks us to vote every two years. Just for appearances, while Congress takes its marching orders from the very few.
