Punditry StaffThose who believe Israel remains the same country they have come to support in the past should dig some more into its transformation over the last 15 years under the Netanyahu regime. Let us start with mothers writing children’s books glorifying the death and destruction of Gaza. Or, maybe the education curriculum that indoctrinates Israelis to dehumanize the Palestinians. No, we do not support that Israel. Not the Israel Netanyahu has created as an extreme, vile and violent society resembling the one we defeated in Germany circa 1930.
Today’s Israel is not the same it was some 20 years ago. This Israel is full of hate, brutality, and a willingness to break all international laws, just as Hitler’s Germany did prior to World War II. The transformation is visible to many, and the silence of Israel’s allies is doing a big disservice to the Jews the world over.
But don’t tell that to our politicians, who stand firmly behind Israel they still believe is the same one they are supporting today. If attacking the Iranian Consulate in Damascus is not a signal, nor is the deliberate murder of seven western aid workers in order to starve the children of Gaza is not persuasive enough of how extreme and violent is the new Israel, then the world better wakes up.
We better not support that Israel for the sanity of humanity.
No more violence, and no more apartheid. Just a country willing to give up its post 1967 land grab in return for real peace. That Israel, we support.
HOW MANY CHILDREN MUST DIE BEFORE WE REALIZE
There is no doubt that October 7 should have never happened, and Hamas murdering 40 children among the 1,200 dead, who mostly were IDF inductees, or reservists, was a massacre the world should not ignore. But does that give Israel the right to kill 13,000 Palestinian children, and injure over 30,000 of them. Many with life-changing injuries like lost limbs.
We know the west support Israel due to its colonialist DNA, and due to Zionist money mostly dedicated to empower Israel and even to expand it. And no, it is not the guilt for German’s Holocaust that is the driving force behind that support.
But that Israel is long gone. In its place is the rise of a country who does not seem to understand that killing women and children is a red line for the world community. How many Palestinian children must starve and die before the world realizes it is dealing with a different Israel today than the one its allies are always supported.
Never count on Congress to know the difference, no matter how many protests they endure by their constituents. AIPAC is deceiving them by creating an illusion that supporting Israel, in any form or shape, is a righteous endeavor. We elect the people we deserve. Even if their intellectual limitations is in direct conflict with the interests of our country.
We say no to supporting a genocidal Israel its genocidal prime minister has transformed, in 15 years, to a monster of a country. Bring back the old Israel willing to speak peace, and unwilling to mass murder women and children, and you have our support back.
No more violence, and no more apartheid. Just a country willing to give up its post 1967 land grab in return for real peace. That Israel, we support.
