Here is the Washington Post title of what I am to write about “U.S.-backed Syria rebels routed by fighters linked to al-Qaeda”
… and here is its first paragraph
The Obama administration’s Syria strategy suffered a major setback Sunday after fighters linked to al-Qaeda routed U.S.-backed rebels from their main northern strongholds, capturing significant quantities of weaponry, triggering widespread defections and ending hopes that Washington will readily find Syrian partners in its war against the Islamic State.
Now, let me tell you what the Washington Post did not dare say.
The moderate forces Obama is backing are considered traitors by the average Syrian for playing into Obama’s hands by attacking other rebel groups instead of the Assad regime dropping tens of barrel bombs on civilians in Aleppo and Idlib. That part, no one will tell you; and as objectionable as it may sound to some of us, this is why the extremists continue to gain ground even when the world believes they are on the run.
On one hand, the Obama-agenda-controlled moderates are Assad’s enemy number one, and on the other hand, they are the Syrian people’s enemy number one. Do you think this is just a coincidence or is this another Obama’s willful incompetency? What better way to help Assad win by refusing to strike his forces and at the same time claim you back his opposition by providing so little so late.
What kind of a policy Obama is practicing when he says its aim is “Assad must go” and at the same time delivers Assad from any harm by refusing to back the opposition properly? Do you call it devious? Do you call it incompetent? Or do you call it he-does-not-know-what-the-hell-he-is-doing?
I would call it Obama’s willful incompetency. He wants us to think it is incompetency just so he can get away with the real goal of saving Assad from a certain demise. Now, he could sit back and write in his memoirs “I provided all kinds of military assistance to the Assad opposition but those rascals could not fight properly. Did I not say that it was fantasy to think doctors and pharmacists could defeat Assad?”
Obama appears to be helping Assad’s moderate opponents when, in fact, he is helping them get defeated because he refuses to strike the Assad forces. You might as well provide the selected moderates with military uniforms labeled in Arabic “KAE’N” (TRAITOR) in big neon yellow on the back.
Hey, what can I say? It is Halloween, and I could swear I opened the door last week to Obama wearing a Syrian Army uniform begging for a Marlboro.
