Police Brutality Starts With The Hiring Process, Which Often Glorifies Violence And Terror

Do you think the CIA or the FBI hire agents without subjecting them to vigorous and comprehensive tests that measure their capacity to know right from wrong and their determination to uphold the interests of the country above all else? So why is it that police departments around the country do not apply the same principles by hiring only individuals capable of upholding the law and carrying out their duties with honor. Why do police departments hire emotionally immature individuals who tend to use unmitigated and irresponsible excessive force as an answer to any situational problem they encounter? Police brutality starts with the hiring process, which often relies on mentally unstable people with extreme tendencies to use violence.

Let us start investigating the hiring process. How and who comes forward to become a police officer with big expectations of a power trip because of a holster and a gun? Do they want good to prevail over evil, or do they all just want to be John Wayne?

Psychological profiling of candidates can ferret out the good from the bad, the stable from the immature, and the leaders from the wanna-bees.

It has gotten so bad that we have to contrast the culture of police departments to the Mafia culture.

THINK ROTTEN POLICE CULTURE AS WELL

But it is not only about the hiring of good men and women to serve their communities. It is also about a rotten police culture that refuses to acknowledge the decay within, which in turn both Qualified Immunity and corrupt police fraternities are empowering perpetually. Both are gasoline to the fire of police brutality.

Qualified immunity, which provides a legal shield, is the culprit when it comes to holding irresponsible police officers accountable for their actions. Without that shield, many police officers would be far more apprehensive about the consequences of their illegal behavior.

Add to Qualified Immunity the corrupt practices of police fraternities across the country protecting violent police officers from dismissals or firing and you have a powder keg that comes wrapped in a video exploding inside your living room.

The combination of the two factors have evolved over the years to produce a toxic culture resembling more a criminal organization than a police force bound by duty and honor.

Think further about this crooked police culture. It is one that punishes police officers who tell on their peers the same way the Mafia punishes their snitches. As such, if we can call the Mafia a criminal organization for chastising its own for snitching, why can’t we call the police culture a criminal enterprise for the same reasons?

It has gotten so bad that we have to contrast the culture of police departments to the Mafia culture.

One would have to think that racism remains the driving force behind any small steps reforms police departments are experimenting with.

DIVERSITY HAS NO IMPACT. NOR IS THE USE OF BODY CAMERAS

The murder of Tyre Nichols is also providing us with a front seat into the preamble that hiring more diverse police officers is a solution to curb police brutality. This is not the case. With the murder of Nichols, it is apparent to everyone that the solution to police brutality lies somewhere else. Like in the hiring process and the reforming of a rotten police culture.

Furthermore, body cameras are not working the way the system designed them to work as a deterrent to police violence. Why? Because of Qualified Immunity and nefarious fraternities who will fight tooth and nail to keep their violent asses in the force. Even if caught, many police officers believe they have a Get-Out-Of-Jail free card. Did the imprisonment of Derek Chauvin, the killer of George Floyd, deter the violence of other police officers?

They are still killing innocent black Americans.

It is hard to believe that with all the resources and the brain power the federal government and the states possess to reform the police, instead of subjecting Americans to witness such raw and inhumane brutality, no such serious effort seems to become a priority. It is truly beyond our comprehension unless killing of black men is a policy set in stone.

One would have to think that racism remains the driving force behind any small steps reforms police departments are experimenting with. Racism possibly points to a fake solution to keep the engine of police brutality going while racists in power dismiss the real solutions to nip this problem once and for all.
