This argument takes the cake for all arguments. Apparently, some pro-Trump DOJ officials are scaring Attorney-General Merrick Garland into believing that an indictment of the Fuhrer would start a civil war. No kidding. Those miscreant ultra-conservative DOJ officials work for the Fuhrer Trump, and not to safeguard our democracy.
According to an article by Ken Dilanian NBC News published online:

WHY NOT HAND OVER THE KEYS TO TRUMP?
Using this logic, we might as well just hand over the keys to Trump to do as he pleases with our country. Why bother even investigating the events that led to the insurrection, the fake electors, the phone call to Georgia asking for fake 11,780 votes to overturn the elections, or Trump’s demand to shoot the protesters outside the White House? Why bother to have elections in 2024? Under this bullshit argument, just hand Trump the presidency on a silver platter.
Why bother with the January 6 Committee’s work and investigations? If anyone believes indicting and prosecuting the Fuhrer might just start a civil war?
Since when the might of the U.S. Government can be subjugated to the will of one criminal? Since when the might of the U.S. Government is unable to squash any discontent should it manifest itself in rural America? Are we to let history repeat itself again in the future? Just because some bastards are sounding the fake alarm bells?
Let me put it succinctly. If we don’t indict and prosecute Donald Trump, many are waiting in the wings to take his place to try for themselves. How would you like for Ted Cruz to declare martial law and become the first American dictator? And if you think this pile of trash is not exploring these options, then you live in La La Land. Trump is the worst until we come close to having Ted Cruz become the dictator-in-chief of this great nation.
Trump is a walking anti-democracy coup waiting to happen anytime you give him that chance. Does Garland want to be the man to do it?
THERE IS NO NIXON MODEL HERE
I would like very much for the media to publish the names of those degenerate pro-Trumpists at the DOJ who are sounding these false alarms. The public has the right to know who is quietly working to harm our democracy.
When the Republican Party, through Senator Barry Goldwater, told Nixon in 1974 he would be impeached, the 37th President resigned rather than face an official public shaming. Not only did he resign, but he rode into the sunset.
Compare Nixon to Trump for a moment. Twice impeached and yet still trying to maneuver to become President again. To any rational person who is fully aware of Trump’s criminality, this spells doom for the country. There is no Nixon model here to entertain. Trump is charging like a bull with a mad cow disease to finish what he started after his election loss.
Does anyone think he would simply walk from the presidency in 2028 should he win in 2024? The man will do everything he can to retain the powers of a U.S. President no matter the costs to the nation or the voters.
This is the element Merrick Garland must consider as part of his calculus. Trump is a walking anti-democracy coup waiting to happen anytime you give him that chance.
Does Garland want to be the man to give Trump that opportunity?
