Punditry StaffIt took a speech by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island on the Senate floor to open the eyes of this author to a certain reality, which has been normalized by corrupt and wealthy billionaires. The aim of these billionaires is to game the system to advance their narrow ideological doctrines, contrary to the will of the American people. It is setting a particularly dangerous precedent in American politics that is endangering the fragile democracy holding its three pillars of government together; and under its banners the lawbreaking American billionaires who are roaming free, buying all three branches of our government.
The delivery on the floor of the Senate of Senator Whitehouse is a must-see. The clarity and the simplicity by which the Senator demonstrates the actions of some billionaires intent on gaming the Supreme Court is an eye-opener.
American billionaires have bought all three branches of our government. Nothing is safe from their domination of U.S. politics.
THE LAWBREAKING AMERICAN BILLIONAIRES
Yet, none of these billionaires using secret money buying schemes face the law they are breaking. None. They buy what they want, whom they want, when they want, without any regard for any rules or ethics on their part. Their latest acquisition? The Supreme Court of the United States of America.
America has entered the phase of lawless capitalism at the same time it is allowing its billionaires to practice legalized corruption. How long do you think this kind of behavior can continue before it rattles and breaks America apart? How long before voters realize that our democracy is really fake? Who will trust a system of government that enforces the law on all, except the billionaire class lawbreakers of this nation?
It has been a while since ProPublica and the New York Times exposed billionaires Harlan Crow, David Sokol, and Wayne Huizenga buying Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Yet, where is the Justice Department to investigate these lawbreaking and unethical powerful men? Why are they let loose to help steer the country against the will of the majority of the American people? With their interference, American billionaires have bought all three branches of our government. Nothing is safe from their domination of U.S. politics.
Which power in the U.S. government can prosecute them for breaking our laws when they bought all of them?
NO ACCOUNTABILITY
Billionaires are escaping accountability because they buy U.S. Presidential elections, any member of Congress or Senators they target, and now the Supreme Court. Who is left to hold them accountable? Which power in the U.S. government can prosecute them for breaking our laws when they bought all of them? The best any of the three branches of our own government hope for is to keep a lid on these unethical rich people breaking our laws. Why? In the hope, the clueless public may not revolt against the corruption laid bare for all to see.
If it was not for the excellent investigative reporting of ProPublica, and Senator Whitehouse standing up for the country, the American voter would always remain in the dark. Their peeling of the rotten billionaire onion may just be the tip of the iceberg. With dark and secretive money financing every facet of our politics, to include elections, we have lost control over our destiny.
What use is voting if the very few can dictate the outcome? Grant you that both ideological spectrums, Republicans and Democrats, are competing in the same space buying the U.S. government, the truth is that this is not sustainable in the long run.
The American people will revolt one day against all the corruption and the dark money flowing to undermine their will. It is a question of when, rather than if.
We have to hold Harlan Crow, David Sokol, and Wayne Huizenga accountable for their crimes.
Let the Biden Administration pretend, at least, it cares. Is everything a Quid Pro Quo?
