Witness Secretary Anthony Blinken making a surprise visit to the West Bank and Iraq, and one of the most lethal U.S. submarines makes an appearance in the waters of the Mediterranean. Then soon after, Blinken traveling to most Arab countries that matter. Something serious is happening as the U.S. tries to bring the temperature down, mostly because what the war in Gaza has caused.
Between the extremist Hamas kidnapping hostages it refuses to return, and the fanatics governing in Israel killing innocent civilians by the thousands, it seems the situation has become untenable. Lest we forget also the Israeli settlers attacking and killing innocent Palestinians in the West Bank.
Who is behind the rise in temperature but Hamas attacking Israel, Israel responding disproportionately, and Iran stoking the fires by attacking U.S. interests? As for the latter, it partially explains Blinken’s visit to Iraq to stem the tide of violence by Iranian-backed militias.
What is the temperature today in the Arab and Muslim worlds? We don’t know, but don’t be surprised if they start their own DEFCON metric to send the right message to the world.
DON’T NEGOTIATE WITH VICHY
Why did Blinken visit Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank? To convince him that a weaker, or destroyed Hamas is in his best interests. The Palestinian Authority, under Abbas, is like the Vichy government under the Nazis. Useless to defend the Palestinians from the terror and the fanaticism of the religious Israeli settlers who now control every aspect of policy in Israel.
Talking to Abbas is useless. The Palestinian Authority is incapable of protecting the Palestinian interests, as the conspiracy to occupy Judea and Samaria goes unchallenged. So, after Hamas, who will be the interlocutor for the Palestinians? It is too early for Blinken to think that far. Right now, he is a fireman putting out fires as Israel continues killing the innocents.
Furthermore, the OIC meeting in Riyadh has just opened a new front for Israel. It’s 1.4 billion Muslims against 15 million Jews. Anywhere and everywhere. Of course, Netanyahu, and his gang, cannot bother to assess that damage. They are all too busy killing babies in Gaza.
Is anyone asking who will fill the void for Hamas? Not that we know of. In light of Israeli violence, if anyone believes what may rise to replace Hamas is any better, they are dreaming. And maybe this is what Israel wants. Peace for many of the extremists might mean giving up the lands they will not abandon under any circumstances. Peace, for Netanyahu and his settlers, is a death sentence.
