Punditry StaffWhile America is distracted by the Department of Justice’s pursuit against the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, which provide many with hope that our institutions are protected, efforts behind the scene to dismantle the rights of voters and suppress their votes continue to gain steam and become a normality in our political landscape. There is a genuine and deliberate effort to change the very nature of America’s political system through the continued White Supremacists’ onslaught on our democracy.
It has become an in-your-face exercise that is slowly weakening the rights of the voters, which will eventually land us in an apartheid-like system of government. Or worse yet, a Nazi-like fascist government that could start a new civil war.
Not one day goes by in which a new attempt by the Republicans to thwart and contain the rise of a particular class of people, based on race or religion, does not happen. It has become a routine affair across all the red States, as well as the toss-up ones. Who is leading this illegal and anti-constitutional endeavor but the Governor of Florida, Benito DeSantis?
All it takes is one mass shooting at one of those pro-democracy rallies to kill the will of the people, and it is coming, folks. Who gave them that idea but the free-as-a-bird Kyle Rittenhouse?
AN INVISIBLE PROCESS
On its surface, the process of dismantling our democracy is invisible. It’s like drawing cash from a drawer ever so little each time to discover that all the cash has gone missing after a while. By the time you realize it, it’s too late. Our democracy would be dead by then.
Many civic organizations are fighting the onslaught. However, it takes time before the message turns universal, so time is on the side of the Republicans turning America into the South Africa of yesteryear. All so pretty on paper for their voters, and ever so ugly in reality to America’s prestige and power.
Add to the equation a corrupt Supreme Court that does not represent the will of the majority of the American people with their extreme opinions, and we have on our hand the perfect storm to cause that striking change in our political system. The extremist Republicans are all in, and the liberals find themselves defending with one hand tied behind their back because of messaging and awareness.
Meanwhile, the violence of mass shootings are just a test run to scare the American public into submission and consensual habits when the real violence breaks out to contain the dissenters down the road. Once we discover America is no longer a democracy, but a fascist country able to thwart the fabric of multiculturalism and diversity. And the more guns on the streets, the less likely any pro-democracy voices would rise to protest.

In conclusion, there is a good chance the Republicans might succeed in using democracy to kill our democracy.
THE DEMOCRATS ARE TOO BUSY SHOWING OFF THEIR FEATHERS
Except for a few Representatives, like Jaime Raskin (D-MD), there is no one in the leadership of the Democratic Party that is stomping their feet for attention. They all seem busy showing off their feathers by believing they killed what Donald Trump stood for.
The pushback is mostly taking place with some civic organizations, like NextGen America and Represent.us, who are energizing the Millennials and the Gen Z youth to become more politically active. Because of the midterms’ election success in states like Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Gen Z youths are becoming a force to reckon with.
In conclusion, there is a good chance the Republicans might succeed in using democracy to kill our democracy. If we let them. If we don’t shake our apathy and imagine the nightmare heading our way.
