Punditry StaffAmericans demographically label their generations on the basis of history, culture, and their political and societal influences. As an example is the Greatest Generation (1901-1927), or the Millennials Generation (1981-1996). But in terms of Congress generations based on their civil service and performance, no such barometer exists. But if we are to start today measuring the performance of the different generations of Congress, we are witnessing the worst generation of GOP Senators in American history for indicating their refusal to indict Donald Trump for his treason despite all the compelling evidence the House Managers have proffered in the last two days.
This could change, of course, after the trial is over. But so far, it looks like, cowardice and selfishness run in the blood of this generation of Senators.
Having said that, the video below (starting at 3:35 minutes) exposes the downward spiral of Congress when it comes to serving the people. Do watch the whole video though because it is extremely bold and honest.
Meanwhile, this generation of GOP Senators, refusing to uphold the Constitution, is testimony to how shattered our government has become. We must address the weak links today starting by returning Congress to serve the people first.
TO SAY OUR POLITICAL SYSTEM IS BROKEN DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE
If you are a middle class American family trying to stretch your dollars to meet your needs, I can tell you for certainty that the previous middle class generation had it better. Much better.
Today, every company, and even your own government (i.e. student debt), wants access to your hard-earned money without any restrictions. The income inequality between the very rich raiding the government coffers through corporate socialism, and the middle class covering the deficits with their declining income, is no longer a secret. The anger we witnessed during the insurrection is but a macrocosm of the anger Americans can no longer refrain because of extreme capitalism.
And as much as we all appreciate to see President Joe Biden replace President Donald Trump, his old school politics cannot possibly provide the answers to what Americans face even though he is trying to patch the anger with temporary small giveaways without fully fixing the system from the grounds up by limiting the influence of special interests at the expense of the American families. A good example is his reticence to forgive $50,000 of student loans even though it is impacting the very fabric of American societal norms. Donations that bankers provide matter more to Biden than the urgent needs of 44 million students debt holders.
Trump did not hesitate passing legislation for $2 trillions worth of giveaways to the rich and powerful. So why Biden is hesitant when it comes to student loans?
I applaud those six Senators who have put country before their own self-interests, and who have shown the inclination to protect this nation’s democracy from the terrible Donald Trump.
IT’S ALL ABOUT STAYING IN POWER
Meanwhile, this generation of GOP Senators, refusing to uphold the Constitution, is testimony to how shattered our government has become. We must address the weak links today starting by returning Congress to serve the people first.
“Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely” and we are witnessing today how corrupt the GOP Senators are. I am accusing those who remain steadfast supportive of a deranged con man. For them, staying in power supersedes the party, the Constitution, and even the country. Their behavior makes America weak and our enemies bolder; never mind our country divided and people angry.
By standing with Donald Trump, this generation of GOP Senators is refusing to see what future their position may hold for the country. Are we to invite authoritarianism, or are we to strengthen our democracy? Are we to stand by while they place our democracy at peril? By golly, this is our democracy as much as theirs.
THE WORST GENERATION OF GOP SENATORS
Some are afraid Donald Trump may start his own Patriot Party, which will suck votes from the Republican Party. But the answer is not to kneel before Trump, but rather to make sure he never runs for office again. What are we missing here, folks?
The worst generation of GOP Senators care only about their power, and staying in office. I applaud those six Senators who have put country before their own self-interests, and who have shown the inclination to protect this nation’s democracy from the terrible Donald Trump.
To excuse their behavior, we should expect many of the coward GOP Senators to start spreading misinformation and lies. Should they start, we should call them for every lie they spread. Remember that we are so divided today because Trump kept lying to his supporters, and we should never accept this new norm to perverse our politics further than they already have.
