Punditry StaffSome powerful Democrats are beginning to ponder, after the latest polls show that Biden is losing in key States to Donald Trump, whether the President should move aside for someone else to run in his place. Some are asking what if Biden loses to Trump, which would destroy our democracy. How would Biden feel about it then? If it happens, he will be labeled as the President that allowed Trump to kill our Constitution. Biden would turn into a more evil figure than Trump himself.
One such Democrat urging Biden not to run is David Axelrod. He took to X/Twitter by posting his opinion on the matter:
Yes, there also is risk associated with changing course now, as there is little time left for a primary campaign–and campaigns are how we test candidates. (Re @RonDeSantis.) But there is a lot of leadership talent in the Democratic Party, poised to emerge.

In other words, time is short, but any name on the ballot, other than Biden, has a big chance of winning against Trump. In brief, the baggage Biden is carrying has become a very real liability to all Americans.
Biden must ask himself: What if I lose to Trump? How would my stubbornness be perceived by history? On that score, we will answer for him the latter question: You would be perceived as a selfish and doting old man who was too blind to see the danger of losing to Trump.
America cannot afford to allow Trump back into the Oval Office at any cost. If that means Democrats must sacrifice their leader for that noble goal, so be it.
WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS?
Where are the powerful Democrats to talk sense into Biden after the latest polls? Their silence make them accomplices. What if these polls get worse in the summer of 2024? It would be too late. Democrats would have to answer to the people of why they stayed silent, even as he sinks in the polls.
They must go see the President with a plan. Not based on the wishful thinking of an aging President who believes himself to be invincible, but on the basis of the real numbers before everyone. America cannot afford to allow Trump back into the Oval Office at any cost. If that means Democrats must sacrifice their leader for that noble goal, so be it.
If Biden, who dismissed the polling data, refuses to listen to reason, mutiny is our only option. Democrats should line up and agree on a new leader. Then, one by one, endorse that leader to force Biden into a reality check.
No Trump in 2024. If necessary, we must be ready to sacrifice Joe Biden to achieve that goal.
