Online news like MSNBC and CNN are intensifying the pressure on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas with regard to the blockbuster scandal ProPublica published about hiding luxury trips one conservative billionaire has paid for over decades. But three days after the scandal broke, NBC, ABC, and CBS have moved on. Who is killing the Clarence Thomas corruption case in spite of calls by a Senator on the Judiciary Committee for hearings to investigate Thomas’ lapse of good judgement, be it accidental or intentional?

Why are the three major media outlets abandoning the story so quickly? Instead of escalating the matter in order for the public to understand the scope of billionaire Harlan Crow’s influence on Thomas, we have a case of bygones be bygones.

The same apathy was on display after the story broke about Thomas’ wife, Ginni Thomas, received $600,000 in anonymous donations no one knows what influence that money purchased. The story died as quickly as if by magic.

Maybe ProPublica should look into this matter as well. Maybe the story behind the media blackout is even more explosive than the original Clarence Thomas scandal.

PURCHASED MEDIA

Today, we live in a highly competitive structured society where greed rules our behavior, and right and wrong are subject to intense deliberative sessions of idealism and realism. NBC, ABC, and CBS are media giants that pursue profits the same way Apple and Microsoft do.

Any conservative billionaire can purchase the silence of all three simply by providing a service or a purchase that benefit financially either media greatly. All Harlan Crow, for example, can do is instruct his PR firms to commit advertising funds to any of these companies with the understanding that they abandon their pursuit of Thomas and the scandal.

These things happen every day at every level and with any media. Look no more than to the “Pillow guy” for his Fox access, tied neatly with the advertising dollars he spent with Fox.

We are not saying this has happened, which might explain NBC, ABC, and CBS fully ignoring the news on the Thomas scandal follow-up. One that has become even more newsworthy when a Senate Judiciary member, in Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI), called for hearings.

But folks, it just makes us suspicious. What really happened behind the scenes for this big story to suddenly die?

Maybe ProPublica should look into this matter as well. Maybe the story behind the media blackout is even more explosive than the original Clarence Thomas scandal.
